Before he ran a workplace studio in Philadelphia, Garry Maddox spent fourteen seasons in center field for the Phillies — eight Gold Gloves, the 1980 World Series, and the nickname Secretary of Defense. Before the Phillies, he served in the US Army in Vietnam. The service-connected disability he came home with is the basis of Pomerantz's SDVOSB federal certification.
